May 1, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

This workshop offers practical strategies for helping high school writers tap into their gift for written expression. Workshop participants will learn how to help students reflect, prioritize the reader, and develop an authentic and engaging writer’s voice. This session is suitable for educators who work with print-resistant or confident writers in middle or high school. Options for diverse learning styles will leave participants prepared to meet students where they are in their writing development.

2021 HBU Virtual Writers Conference

HBU’s Creative Writing program invites you to join us for the annual HBU Writers Conference, hosted virtuallythis year on Saturday, May 1, from 10:00 am – 4:30 pm. This year’s conference features an incredible slate of guest speakers, including keynotes from S.D. Smith and Tony Hale, a wide array of workshops, and panel discussions. With sessions focusing on fiction, poetry, screenwriting, and creative non-fiction, the HBU Writers Conference is a multi-disciplinary gathering of storytellers and wordsmiths united in common foundations of faith, beauty, and excellence.

The HBU Writers Conference also offers an educators track, serving teachers from elementary school to college. Four hours of TEA-recognized Continuing Education Units (CEU) are available for educators.

For the sake of our guests and speakers, this year’s event will be held virtually via Zoom. Registration is free and open to everyone. Check out our Conference Schedule here, register here, or contact us with any questions.
