I’ve been busy pursuing the MFA in Creative Writing at the University of St. Thomas, a remarkable, ground-breaking program. My projected graduation date is May 2025, after which, perhaps, I’ll have more time to keep my website updated!
This fall I’ll be attending the Catholic Imagination Conference at Notre Dame. A few months later, I’ll be hosting the poetry workshop at the Windhover Writers’ Festival in February 2025. These are excellent conferences to attend for those interested in deepening their appreciation for the literary tradition and learn writing craft wisdom from writers, editors, publishers, scholars, artists, musicians, readers, and thinkers.
It was an honor to have my poem “The Blinding of Oedipus” named a runner-up in the second annual St. Austin Review Prize for Poetry and to have an article titled “Sarah Cortez, Poet of Ashes and Stardust” published in St. Austin Review’s September/October 2024 issue.
Over the last couple of years, my poems have appeared in Modern Age, Presence, and others. Book reviews of mine have been published in Dappled Things and Christianity and Literature.
On the editing front, I’ve done poetry content editing for Paraclete Press. And in my teaching career, I’m currently serving in a three-year role as English Department Chair and in the summers I serve as Director of the High School Writers Institute, a program of Catholic Literary Arts.
