The Press Women of Texas (PWT) and the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) announced the winners of the 2020 state and national Communications Contests. In the category of Writing: Single Poem, Lesley Clinton won Third Place in Texas. Her winning poem, titled “New Year Red,“ is set amid the vibrant colors of a Lunar New Year celebration. It speaks to the loving sacrifices mothers make for their children even when separated by great distances. Contest judges remarked, “Beautiful tribute. Lovely images woven into a loving message.“
